Eight years ago, the energy of our lives leveled up considerably.
Sparkler was born.
We are a family of introverts, who likes quiet evenings and lots of personal space. God laughed when He dropped Sparkler in our midst. She loves friends (and meets them wherever she goes), loves going, loves doing… and learning… and living.
The birthday girl consented to an interview this morning. “Consented” being read as “snuggled up on the couch with me and earnestly considered every question so as to give her best answer.” Because she loves interviews.
What is your favorite…
Well, I really love pink.
Probably… um… can I do a couple? Running, drawing, science… Playing with friends? Definitely!
Area of science?
I’m really interested in space. It’s really awesome.
[Older sister: “Everything is awesome!” Sisters break into spontaneous chorus of The Song From The Lego Movie.]
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I’m going to be a scientist. Mostly a chemist, but also botany… just a lot of stuff.
Would you rather have a quiet evening or be at a party?
A party! I’m an extrovert. A hypervert.
What is your least favorite…
Red-green with olive mixed in brown. I’ve never seen it, but it sounds awful.
What would you not want to be when you grow up?
[Older sister: “Garbage person! Because she wouldn’t get to talk, just drag cans to the truck.”]
I asked ordinary family members for their impressions of the birthday girl:
Bookgirl: Chatty, sparkly
Gamerboy: Hyper, social (“Those are two words to describe her without me being mean.”)
Ranger: My best friend
DJ: Motivated, sociable
SJ: Mature, passionate
Happy birthday to our chatty, hyper, sociable, motivated, passionate, friendly, sparkly, mature 8-year-old!
We love you!
